I've also been testing a bit with an iPod touch, using subversion
chilli, an ubiquiti router (not that it matters) VLAN'ing traffic to my
eth0 interface which has chilli running on it...

One thing I noticed (also in your tcpdump) is the inappropriate use of
Client-IP in the second Ack. It correctly has the Your-IP, just like the
original Ack, but this one also has Client-IP, which should only be sent
my the client (when it is arp-able). 

Though, the funny thing is, I'm not having any problems with my ipod
after the lease renewer ... with or without the Client-IP being set. 

Are you testing with latest ipod/iphone firmware?
