[Chilli] what loss if using a recent openWRT

Manao ahoana, Hello, Bonjour,

Given the CoovaAP is based on an old version of openWRT, I would like
to install a more recent openWRT firmware
(http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/brcm-2.4/openwrt-wrt54g-squashfs.bin)
and then:
- install 2.6 kernel 
- install chilli

What would be the traps?
Any recommandations?
