Normally you should see an IP, however "ifconfig" is deprecated
by "ip". Not all IP addresses are shown by ifconfig, so in
general better use "ip addr show wlan0" to ensure to see all IPs.

Could it be some configuration issue? Netmask not matching, IP
not in network or such? Can you manually configure the values you
configured? You may check syslog and enable chilli debug.
