Regarding the patch to accept hex string as dhcp option, 
there is a comment that it will break existing compatibility.

Would you consider it again if the patch detects the presence of 
"hex string" ( ie xx:xx:xx .... ) and then perform the job
accordingly ? I am still keen on this as I think when the 
dhcp options are stored in sql database, it is (slightly) easier 
to manupulate it as hex string instead of binary data.
