total data transfer size

Hello all,
I'm both using chilli in some linux servers on a wired configuration and
also using coovaap in some wireless areas..
I didnt still tested this on coova but, what i noticed is (on chilli),
when i am checking the amount of upload/download traffics of users on
chilli config over mysql,
the data increases as 2.7gb 2.8 gb 2.9gb and suddenly it drops down to
2.2gb and goes on to increase again.. numbers are just examples, point is,
the amount of data suddenly decreases in some random intervals.. thats why
i can not believe if it is the real amount or not...
What might be the cause for this...
Is it a known problem for chilli and maybe solved in coova? or am i the
only person having this...
